History
1985 — Founded in Pinson, Alabama
Ala-Temp Corporation was founded by Terry L. Sullivan in Pinson, Alabama, in 1985. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and gaining experience working alongside his father at Conditioned Air Service Co., Terry established a mechanical contracting company focused primarily on commercial projects.
From the beginning, the company provided services for:
- New construction
- Commercial renovations
- Industrial projects
- Design-build projects
1992 — In-House Fabrication
In 1992, Ala-Temp Corporation expanded its capabilities by adding an in-house fabrication shop. This investment improved project management and lead times by giving the company greater control over the production and delivery of custom components.
Today, the fabrication shop utilizes advanced CAD software and plasma-cutting technology to produce custom metal fabrications quickly, accurately, and with minimal material waste.
Late 1990s — A. T. Mechanical
In the late 1990s, Ala-Temp Corporation began operating under the name A. T. Mechanical, better reflecting the company’s expanding range of mechanical contracting services.
Since its founding, the company has continued to grow and evolve, building a strong reputation as a contractor specializing in:
- HVAC
- Metal fabrication
- Process piping
2019 — New Headquarters
In 2019, A. T. Mechanical reached another significant milestone with the expansion into a new 32,000-square-foot headquarters, including an 8,000-square-foot fabrication shop.
2026 — New Logistics Center
In 2026, Ala-Temp added a 12,000-square-foot on-site Logistics Center to further support its operations. The additional space provides expanded warehousing and staging capabilities, helping improve organization, efficiency, and project readiness.
Together, the company’s facilities provide the space, technology, and resources needed to support continued growth and serve customers throughout Alabama and the Southeast.

Ala-Temp Corporation was founded by Terry L. Sullivan in Pinson, AL, in 1985. After earning a BS in mechanical engineering and working for his father at Conditioned Air Service Co., Terry decided to start a mechanical contracting company with a focus on commercial projects. This included new construction, renovations, industrial, and design-build projects.
In 1992, Ala-Temp Corporation added a fabrication shop to its facilities. The internal fabrication shop aided in job management through improved lead times. Currently, it utilizes the latest CAD software and plasma-cutting technology to rapidly produce custom metal fabrications with minimal waste.
In the late 1990s, Ala-Temp Corporation began doing business as A. T. Mechanical to better reflect the nature of the business. Since its incorporation, it has continued to grow as a general contractor specializing in HVAC, fabrication, and process piping.
